Nood Co x @proteastyling

A chat with Lizelle Ehrentraut of @proteastyling about her stunning project on the Victorian surf coast featuring not one but two Nood Co stand basins.

Protea Styling was established on the belief that Interior Design is so much more than just a well thought through room, filled with beautiful items.

Founder Lizelle Ehrentraut: "For me, it is about creating designs that are unique to each client’s personal taste and lifestyle, filled with meaning and memories. It is such a privilege to be allowed into someone’s home and personal space. I gain immense satisfaction from creating a space that is aesthetically beautiful, practical but also gives joy and comfort to my client."

We were lucky enough to chat with Lizelle about her recent project on the Victorian Surf Coast - with two stunning bathrooms featuring our Trough Basin Vanity Set in clay and mid tone grey.

We love this space and so does instagram. Can you tell us about the mood you were trying to achieve with this space?

The home is a beach house on the Victorian Surf Coast. Even before renovations started it had the loveliest vibe, with loads of warm timbers and a lovely coastal feel. I wanted to modernise the bathrooms, but still be sympathetic to this laid back, fun vibe and original character of the home. To achieve this sense of fun, I decided to bring some colour into the bathrooms. As this is a holiday home it was really important to create a casual, easy to maintain, no fuss look, in both bathrooms.

Tell us about the colours, patterns and material choices for this space and how they work together?

For the downstairs bathroom I used the local Otway Forest as inspiration. I found a soft shade of green for the feature wall tile. As a contrast to the green I chose shades of grey, as seen in the tree bark. I decided on a concrete look, Matt tile for the floor and shower wall. To add some warm tones, I decided on tap ware and accessories in beautiful Antique Brass. The green feature tile has a lightly
undulated surface, that creates a sense of movement. The colour definitely transports you to the tranquil setting of walking through a forest.

My inspiration for the Ensuite bathroom came from the most beautiful coloured starfish I spotted on a beach walk. The Tile colour is called Jewel and as a contrast I again used the concrete look matt tiles with a warm sandy paint colour on the walls. The Antique Brass tap ware and accessories also works perfectly with this colour combination.

In both bathrooms I decided on odd shaped mirrors, just to add to the fun element. The Roky Mirror in the ensuite is definitely a favourite.

Tell us about your Nood selection? Why did you select that design and colour?

This fun element is one of the reasons for deciding on NoodCo. for the basins in both bathrooms. The colours and designs available adds so much personality to a bathroom. The basins adds to the understated handmade aesthetic I wanted to add to the space. The concrete also has the most beautiful smooth, soft tactile finish. I chose the Trough Basin Vanity design because it compliments the casual
mood of the bathroom. The steel frame is such a strong, robust statement without overpowering the space. I love it!
From the start, it was such a pleasure to work with Nood Co From the stunning set of samples that helped with the choice of colours, to the short video that was sent, highlighting the production process. I received regular updates along the way to let me know how the order was progressing. I would definitely specify Nood Co in future projects.
