A Thoughtful and Intuitive Design Philosophy

Jeanette’s work begins with deep listening and collaboration. Her team takes the time to understand a client’s vision and develop a brief that genuinely reflects their desires. This considered approach helps foster strong relationships and ensures every detail aligns with the client’s goals. For Jeanette, refinement is all about finessing the small details - finishes, styles, and the overall flow of a space - to create environments that are both functional and beautiful. Intuition also plays a vital role, as Jeanette believes every home has its own story, teaching her team how to evolve spaces into something extraordinary.

Signature Style: A Unique Blend of Pattern and Colour

While Jeanette tailors each project to her client’s style, her signature touch often involves a creative mix of pattern and colour. This is especially evident in her bathroom designs, where she uses textures, shapes, and vibrant hues to craft one-of-a-kind spaces. “I love working with different textures and colours to create bespoke designs you don’t see everywhere,” she shares. Her work doesn’t adhere to a single style but rather evolves to help her clients achieve their dream homes in a cohesive and refined way.

The Art of Product Selection

Choosing the right products is a thoughtful process at JDZ Designs. Budget, functionality, and the overall design concept all play a role, but Jeanette also prioritises working with suppliers who offer excellent after-care service and build strong relationships. “It’s important to me that suppliers treat my clients with the same care they give me during the specification stage,” she explains. Supporting small businesses and innovative products is also a key consideration, adding a unique and personal touch to her designs.

From Concept to Reality

Every project at JDZ Designs begins with a detailed client brief, followed by a creative concept development phase. Jeanette draws inspiration from unexpected places - a colour on a wall, the shape of a leaf, or a striking sculpture. Once space planning is approved, her team finalises finishes, textures, and details, merging layout and concept into a cohesive vision. With a combination of 3D and 2D representations, the design comes to life in construction drawings that ensure every detail is executed flawlessly. For Jeanette, the transformation from concept to reality is one of the most rewarding aspects of her work.

Inspiration from Travel and Nature

Travel and nature are central to Jeanette’s creative process. Her time living in New Zealand offered a fresh perspective on design, with its strong connection to the landscape and unique architectural approaches. Jeanette hopes to incorporate these influences into future projects in Australia, creating spaces that celebrate the best of both worlds.

Memorable Projects and Dream Spaces

When reflecting on her favourite projects, Jeanette highlights the Haberfield project as a particularly special one. “The story behind the existing home and the journey to transform it will stay with me forever,” she says. Other standout projects include her first solo project in Bronte and the transformative designs in Newtown and Coogee. As for her dream home, Jeanette envisions a space that combines mid-century, coastal, and contemporary influences - a home filled with personality, texture, and moments that evoke warmth and nostalgia.

Injecting Colour and Personality

Jeanette’s favourite ways to add colour include using tiles, art, and soft furnishings. Bathrooms, in particular, are an exciting canvas for her creativity, as she experiments with patterns, contrasting combinations, and colourful tapware and basins. Subtle yet impactful choices make all the difference in creating spaces that feel personal and unique.
