At MJ Harris Group, the journey of home renovation begins with a deep understanding of each client's unique needs. This approach is more than just a design philosophy; it’s a commitment to transforming spaces into personalised sanctuaries. Designer Naomi McLean embodies this ethos.

“At MJ, our design approach is to analyse the client's brief to develop an ideal design that meets their needs,” she explains. This principle is at the heart of every project, ensuring that each space created by the team is not just a house but a home, carefully crafted to reflect each client's lifestyle.

Drawing Inspiration from the Australian Landscape

The natural beauty of the Australian landscape serves as a rich source of inspiration for MJ Harris Group’s designs. By integrating natural elements and drawing on industry-leading practices, the team creates spaces that are both timeless and bespoke. A perfect example of this approach is the ‘Clifton Street’ project. The colour palette reflects our natural environment through the use of natural stone, pale green in the cabinetry and warm brown leather in the booth seat.

Award-Winning Designs Featuring Nood Co Products

The Hawdon Street renovation is another project that exemplifies MJ Harris Group’s design excellence. The design embraces organic shapes and a neutral colour palette, with the bathrooms featuring Nood Co basins that add softness and curves into the space.

Design Tips for Using Colour

When it comes to incorporating colour into a home, Naomi suggests a thoughtful and balanced approach.

Use Colour in Moderation: "pair colour with neutrals, and choose your feature colour wisely," Naomi says. Employing bold colours sparingly prevents overwhelming the space.

Balance Bold Colours with Neutrals: Pairing vibrant colours with neutral tones such as white, grey, or beige achieves a visual balance, allowing the bold colours to shine while maintaining overall cohesion.

Consider the Space when Choosing Colour: Naomi also emphasises considering the room’s size and atmosphere when selecting feature colours; cooler tones promote tranquillity, while warmer tones inject vibrancy and energy into the space. A good rule of thumb to consider is that lighter colours expand smaller spaces, while darker shades create a more intimate and cosy ambiance.

“My dream home would embrace colour and character throughout its spaces. Your home should reflect who you are; it shouldn’t be designed solely for a timeless look or for resale purposes. It should be an extension of your personality.” Naomi McLean, MJ Harris Group

Nood Co and MJ Harris Group have cultivated a lasting partnership over the years, with Nood Co's basins becoming a staple feature in many of MJ Harris Group's standout projects. Discover more about MJ Harris Group on their website or Instagram.
