Miette Boutique Accommodation: A New Era of Luxury in Yackandandah, Victoria.

Yackandandah, a historic gem in Victoria, welcomes Miette Boutique Accommodation, setting a new benchmark for luxury stays in the region. Opened in March 2024 after two years of development, this sanctuary merges modern sophistication with the town's rich past, promising an exclusive retreat for those exploring North East Victoria.

The design process involved a close collaboration between the owners, architect Ross Beaver of Sunjoule Design, and builder Justin Maybury of Yack Constructions

“Miette was designed around the concept of a luxury boutique hotel room. We wanted to create a place to relax and connect with friends and family; a place to unwind and restore; a place with gorgeous furnishings, luxurious amenities and high-quality fixtures and fittings.” Jane Dowsley, Co-Owner.

The essence of Miette lies not only in its luxurious offerings but also in its connection to Yackandandah's history. Originally the site of a French bakery founded by Louis Stephens in the 1850s, Miette pays homage to its heritage—its name meaning "crumb" in French. This nod to the past is beautifully integrated with contemporary design and amenities.

Owners Jane and Jamie Dowsley, inspired by their travels and the absence of comparable luxury accommodations in their hometown, embarked on creating Miette to fill this niche. “We quickly saw the potential in the heritage features of the 1850s shopfront, but it was the location and size of the land that really excited us.” says Jane.

Miette's accommodation features two elegantly appointed bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. The first, with a light and bright bathroom that features Nood Co’s Box Basin in Rowboat.

“Nood Co basins were a perfect fit for this vision. Our wall hung box basins are refined, sophisticated and simply gorgeous. We ordered the sample packs and fell in love with the classic Charcoal and divine Rowboat. We then designed our bathrooms around the basins. We couldn’t be happier with the end result!” Jane Dowsley, Co-Owner.

The primary suite showcases Nood Co’s Box Basin in Charcoal and offers a unique outdoor bath, ideal for stargazing, elevating the relaxation experience.

Every detail in Miette, from the polished concrete floors to the modern furnishings and art selections, reflects a personalised touch. The inclusion of art prints by Vynka Hallam, Charles Blackman, and local artist Lisabeth Souness adds a local connection to the spaces, making each stay at Miette a unique experience. The use of luxurious amenities and thoughtful inclusions like premium Wallawa Indigenous Botanical Skincare products further accentuates the bespoke nature of Miette's design.
