Set amongst a grape farm, Cloud House is a modern Mediterranean family space, designed as a forever home for a young family. Located in Mildura, the project balances functionality with a timeless aesthetic, creating spaces that feel light, airy and welcoming while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding rural landscape.

Designed by Aspire Architecture, with interiors and material selections by Hannah McGlynn of HM Interior Design, the home embraces warmth, texture and natural materials to create an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and effortless.

The brief centred around creating an earthy and organic aesthetic, layered with soft neutral tones, tactile materials and carefully considered finishes. Natural stone, warm timber elements and handcrafted details were selected throughout, resulting in a contemporary Mediterranean-inspired home that feels relaxed, refined and deeply connected to its environment.

Selecting the products and finishes was a highly considered process, as texture was one of the driving principles behind the entire design, with every material chosen to evoke a sensory response and encourage interaction. Rather than creating a home that felt flat or overly polished, Hannah sought to create spaces that felt layered, warm and authentic.

The Nood Co. concrete basins were a natural choice, bringing a beautiful tactile quality and handcrafted feel to the bathrooms. These were paired with Taj Mahal Quartzite, which introduced soft movement, warmth and a sense of understated luxury. Textured timber vanities further reinforced the organic palette, adding depth and character while complementing the home's Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic.

Every project begins with an in-depth consultation, where Hannah takes the time to understand not only how her clients want their home to look, but how they want it to feel. Floor plans are reviewed, lifestyle requirements discussed, inspiration imagery explored and the key design elements that resonate most strongly with the clients are identified. This stage is about uncovering the vision and establishing a clear direction for the project.

From there, the concept design phase translates those ideas into a cohesive design story. Through mood boards, imagery, materials and preliminary selections, the overall aesthetic and emotional feel of the home begins to take shape. For Cloud House, that vision became a warm, light-filled Mediterranean-inspired environment layered with earthy tones, organic textures and timeless materials.

Once the concept was approved, every selection throughout the home was carefully refined, working closely with the clients. This is where the value of engaging a designer becomes particularly important. From the stone and joinery through to the tapware, lighting and furnishings, each finish was considered not only for its individual beauty, but for how it contributed to the overall design vision.

Hannah’s favourite part of this project is undoubtedly the sense of cohesion throughout the entire home. As you move from room to room, there are no abrupt changes in mood, colour palette or materiality. Every space feels connected to the next, creating a seamless flow and a consistent emotional experience. The home feels light, airy and calming throughout, with each design decision reinforcing the overall vision rather than competing for attention.

Hannah often describes it as the opposite of an "Alice in Wonderland" experience, where every room feels like a completely different world. Instead, Cloud House maintains the same gentle rhythm from the moment you enter. The materials, textures, colours and natural light work together to create a feeling of warmth, softness and ease.

This sense of calm and weightlessness ultimately inspired the home's name. There is an almost ethereal quality to Cloud House - it genuinely feels as though you're floating on a cloud. Abundant natural light, a soft palette and layered textures combine to create an environment that feels peaceful, uplifting and effortless to live in.

For Hannah, Nood Co. was a natural fit for this project because it embodied everything the home was designed to achieve: warmth, texture, authenticity and a strong connection to natural materials. The handcrafted concrete basins reinforce that vision, adding tactile warmth while maintaining the calm, cloud-like atmosphere that inspired the home's name.
